Carmine Gallo is a three-time Wall Street Journal bestselling author, internationally popular keynote speaker, Harvard instructor, and leadership advisor for the world’s most admired brands. As a leader, you need to be able to communicate the benefits of your product in a way that is simple, clear, and concise. The message map is the best formula for guiding you through this process. Today Gallo is sharing a quick video on how to pitch anything in 15 seconds using message mapping.
A message map is a visual display of the story on one page. You'll need a notepad, a tablet computer, or a white board.
STEP 1: CREATE A TWITTER-FRIENDLY HEADLINE
The Twitter-friendly headline is the one over-arching message you want to communicate to your customer. What is the one thing you want people to know about your brand or your product? I needs to be able to fit into a Twitter post of 140 characters.
STEP 2: CREATE 3 SUPPORTING POINTS
These supporting points need to be just one or two words that helps reinforce the headline. How does the company do what the headline suggests.
STEP 3: CREATE 2 OR THREE BULLET POINTS UNDER EACH SUPPORTING POINT
Step 3 will take your pitch closer to 30 seconds but it will give a powerful, in-depth explanation of what your customers can expect from your business.
