The new release of Lin-Manuel Miranda's smash hit "Hamilton" on Disney+ has revitalized the world's fascination with the complex story of Alexander Hamilton. However, even the full two and a half hour non-stop musical can't begin to cover all of the economic and financial groundwork that was laid by Hamilton in his term as the first Secretary of the Treasury.
Prior to Alexander Hamilton's financial design it was difficult to own a business, there were multiple currencies to keep track of, the national debt was through the roof, and the economy was completely unstable.
Hamilton had a vision for the nation and wanted to encourage private enterprise among its citizens. One of the reasons this country was able to grow and become "the land of opportunity" was due to Hamilton's groundwork that he laid.
